Saint Guinevere Pettigrew

Patron Saint of Organization, Good Government and Waffles

Guinevere pettigrew

Patron of love - especially when it takes awhile to find us

Let us pray...

SAINT PETTIGREW! Walk with us - in both silks and simple shifts. Stand by us when we aren’t sure what’s going on, and clarify for us the intentions of others.

When the world mocks our hopes, when we are left alone, and when the dream of a decent breakfast is far off and unlikely - give us the fortitude to argue still for love above stability, and above certainty. Grant us that we shall endure solitude when it is imposed by circumstance.

Teach us to stand up to the awkwardness of social unfamiliarity. Let us speak our mind and be open to new ideas. Let us be heard and seen as our best. Let us bear with the small indignities of poverty, grant us grace in these and help us survive the grosser injustices of our stations in the world.

SAINT PETTIGREW - we pray for happiness. We pray for love. We pray for friends who are honest, and lovers who bring us champagne and strawberries - whether they can play the piano or not.

Give us the strength to stand up -- even when there is no reason in the world to believe we aren’t about to be knocked down again. And forgive us when, in our youth, we take passion and options for granted.

Love us, when we are unsure and afraid. Love us, when we are alone. Love us, when we are hiding from ourselves. Lady, let your example inspire us to quick thinking, to holding onto the present with both hands, and - above all - to kindness for strangers.
