Let us pray...

SAINT CLAIRE, be with us in the long night: on rooftops and in the hospital. Care for us under strange circumstances. Mend us when we are broken, hide us when we are running, and come to us in our hour of need.

Teach us to be generous with our time and with our skills, to share what we know and to actively be teachers in our turn. Remind us that in extraordinary circumstances a steady hand and a knowledge of anatomy are as valuable as enhanced reflexes or unbreakable skin. Or more so.

Help us to be patient with friends who don’t know how to be content. Help us to be patient in the face of pigheadedness. Help us to be patient with those who martyr themselves unnecessarily.

SAINT CLAIRE, help us to let go. Teach us your wisdom in setting boundaries without losing compassion. May you sit with us as we puzzle out the riddles of our hearts and give us your courage and eloquence in expressing those hearts.

Help us to be honest in the face of cowardice and arrogance. Help us to recognize when motivations are not what they seem. Help us to know when to walk away.

Keep our faith in people strong. Let us be sharp and quick. Let us recognize skills in surprising places. Let us know when to follow instructions and when to break the rules.

Help us to remember that while in one life, we play the leading part - we play supporting cast in dozens of others.

This we pray to you, SAINT CLAIRE TEMPLE, patron of the night and nurses.
